  • How Martial Arts Helps Manage ADHD

In the simplest terms, ADHD is when your brain does not regulate or produce enough dopamine. There is a saying in the ADHD community, “follow the dopamine.” This means that a person with ADHD needs to structure their daily activities to produce the most dopamine. Participating in martial arts programs offered by Martial Arts can be a valuable tool for both children and adults to manage their ADHD symptoms.  AmeriKick Martial Arts headquarters are in Marlton, NJ. Martial Arts USA franchises across the United States, including locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, offer various programs that can effectively help both children and adults manage their ADHD symptoms.

    ADHD and Enthrallment of Instruction

People with ADHD have a difficult time thinking ahead or remembering the past. They live in the moment, so direct, right-now instruction is ideal. Martial Arts gives students in the now teaching. It is essential to keep moving and engaging in each activity. That is why martial arts is great for kids and adults. It is fast pace, and you can learn quickly through each task. AmeriKick Martial Arts have courses for different ages and skill groups. Their instructors are experts in designing classes to meet everyone’s needs.

    Exercise

Exercise is one of the best ways to increase dopamine in your brain. This gives your brain a jolt to your reward system. Over time, with constant exercise routines, the dopamine receptors will increase. AmeriKick Martial Arts has weekly classes that can give your brain the impact it needs to stay motivated and focused in your daily life. This not only increases dopamine but also gives your system a study schedule. One other problem is the motivation to do something. So having a weekly commitment helps.

    ADHD and Mental Health

Mental health professionals typically diagnose people with ADHD in childhood. Boys are more likely to be diagnosed than girls. Statistically, 75% of adults who have ADHD are undiagnosed. As an adult, it isn’t very easy to receive this diagnosis. This can take a toll on your mental health. These people are more susceptible to self-medication, low self-esteem, and lack of confidence. Martial Arts USA can help ease these issues. AmeriKick Martial Arts USA prides itself on helping children, as well as adults, break barriers. Their classes include self-worth, self-confidence, and heightened self-esteem. Through the sense of community and family, martial arts USA gives everyone a safe space to belong.

One of the primary advantages of practicing martial arts is the enhancement of physical fitness. The dynamic movements, intense workouts, and focus on technique development help to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. As you progress through the ranks, you’ll notice a marked improvement in your cardiovascular health, muscle tone, and overall physical prowess. This not only boosts your confidence but also reduces the risk of injury and chronic health conditions.

The meditative aspects of martial arts, such as deep breathing exercises and mindfulness practices, can also have a calming effect on the mind, reducing stress and anxiety.

Beyond the physical and mental benefits, practicing martial arts can also have a positive impact on your emotional and social well-being. The sense of community and camaraderie that develops within a martial arts school can be incredibly empowering, providing a supportive network of like-minded individuals who share your passion for personal growth and self-improvement. • What A Black Belt To Jameson Taber

Perseverance Through Nine Years of Karate Journey

black belt karate means perseverance, because I have been doing karate for 9 years. In those 9 years I have trained and tried my best to make up for the moment I receive my black belt. I have been passionate about karate since I was 3 and want to continue my journey through martial arts. When I was younger my parents wanted me to do something to be passionate about, and I always would see karate dojos and would want to do karate. My parents saw that and put me in Amerikick. I really enjoyed it and saw others with black belt karate like a Sensei and thought when I was a white belt that I could be one someday in the future.

I loved karate and was not bad at it either, but at one period of time I was not excited for it or just didn’t want to go. I missed many classes and did not do my best. My parents took me out of other sports at that time too so I didn’t do anything I could be passionate about besides school. Amerikick would send me messages saying things like, “When are you coming back,”. Then I decided to come back to karate a couple years ago and really started to enjoy it again. I was determined and was excited and looked forward to every class.

I was back in karate and really enjoyed it. I started to go to classes, sparring, and tricks class. Then I finally got my red belt and realized I would need to really be passionate about karate and not treat it like a thing I do when I have free time. I really do hope to get my black belt.

Life Lessons Learned Through Karate and the Meaning of a Black Belt

What black belt karate also means to me is that you have to work hard if you really want something that bad, no matter what it is. If you want a new bike that costs 200 hundred dollars and you only have fifty dollars and people will only help to get a little bit of money. Find a way yourself to raise the money like helping your neighbor with their errands, or if you’re old enough get a job. I believe that Amerikick has also taught me good life lessons shown through your journey of Karate.

Many people think karate is something useless in life and silly. They are wrong because it teaches you how to defend yourself against others trying to harm you. It could be a bully, mugger, or anyone really. It also teaches you to work hard, believe in yourself, and try something and you may succeed. Karate is not just another sport or fun thing to do, It teaches you many things you will use in your later life that will benefit you.

I conclude that karate is something that is a big part of my life and many others lives too. It is like riding a bike, if you don’t do it for a while you may be a little rusty but you will always remember some what of it. I don’t know what I would be like today without Americk in my life.

  • Black Belt Means To Wyatt Mak

Learning karate, A Black Belt is nothing without the person who wears it. A Black Belt doesn’t make the person. It is the mentality of the person that makes them a Black Belt. At Amerikick we have a saying, “A black belt is a white belt that never quits”. Nobody can respect somebody who calls themselves a black belt just because they have a black belt. People can respect someone who has a deep respect for others and truly knows the purpose of a black belt. My name is Wyatt Mak. I studied at Master Alex Davydov’s Amerikick Park Slope dojo for six years and this is my essay for achieving my Black Belt.

Early Influences and Martial Arts Dreams

Growing up as a kid watching movies, I would see people wearing this cloth around their waist. It would be dark black and we would think that it looked really cool. People would be doing flips and cool strikes in a fight. At the time, it seemed unreal. When I was a kid I failed to realize that those people weren’t just born and could do all the cool flips. Those people worked for years to be able to do what they could in the movie. Those people didn’t just practice for a couple minutes a week and call it a day, they had to make many sacrifices and put in hundreds of hours. Amerikick has taught me and many others to work hard just like those people.

Tournaments and competitions were a big part of my career at Amerikick. I started at the local AKL and soon moved on to larger competitions such as New York Tournaments in Long Island. I spent a couple of years honing my skills at New York Tournament and soon went on to my first Amerikick Internationals. After my first Internationals where I met some incredible competitors, I knew how much more I needed to train. I started taking lessons with top competitors such as Sammy Smith and Reed Presley. I continued going to New York Tournaments for practice. After 4 years of being at Amerikick, I started competing at the World Karate Conference where I first won regionally and then won a bronze medal at the national championship in Detroit. This qualified me to go to the world championship as part of Team USA, and it was an honor to represent my country in the tournament. WKC was definitely an incredible experience and the people we met were amazing as well.

    Learning karate and Lifelong Bonds

Amerikick wasn’t only about learning karate. Amerikick has also helped me with friendships which I value a lot. I have gone to many new places with amazing people and friends. I have been to tournaments at Atlantic City, Detroit, and even Niagara Falls. I have also been on the Park Slope Demo Team with our amazing coach Sensei Ricky Taylor. While I was on the Demo Team, I met people that I’m still friends with to this day. learning karate isn’t just about who can hit the hardest or who can kick the highest, it’s about the lessons you learn and how you apply it to your life.

During the year of 2020, the pandemic struck. The Coronavirus caused all indoor activities to be put on hold. This did unfortunately include Amerikick where we couldn’t even go inside of the dojo. To continue attending classes we were forced to take our classes online. This cut off many different classes such as sparring, hyper tricks, acrobatics, and weapons since having space to practice would be a problem for almost everyone. Tournaments and competing online was a challenge for most people as well. Although the Coronavirus was a massive issue, things are starting to go back to normal as classes are happening indoors again. After a very hard year, we all hope for things to go back to normal.

learning karate: A Journey of Personal Development

Karate is an amazing sport that has helped me not just physically, but also mentally. While Covid didn’t hurt me physically, it was definitely a mental battle because not having access to the dojo to learning karate in person with other people took away a lot of the energy. Thankfully, I managed to stick it out and now have started training in person again. Recently this summer, I was invited to join the Park Slope Dream Team where I was honored to train with many of the senseis at our school. I also looked forward to competing at the Amerikick Internationals, which was my first in person tournament since the start of Covid. With the help of Sensei Manny Brown and Sensei Vince Little, I was able to train again like I did back before Covid. In the end, I won both for my individual NASKA divisions, as well as the team NASKA division with the Dream Team. Finally, I won the Grand Championship for my division, thus showing how hard work, perseverance, and mental toughness can go a long way. After all, a black belt is a white belt who never quit.

A Black Belt itself isn’t the most important thing about karate. Just because you have a black belt doesn’t mean that you’re a sensei. A sensei is a teacher and the title of Sensei is something to value and not to brag about. But a black belt is still important because it is the first step to becoming a sensei and a teacher. This is what a Black Belt means to me and how Amerikick taught me lessons for life.

  • What a black belt To Nedaa Jaber

Becoming a black belt means a lot to me. For example it shows my journey of dedication, hard work, effort, relationships with people I’ve created and all throughout it along with my experience and childhood. Growing up the first sport I ever did was karate at the age of two, all throughout my childhood I somehow did every sport people could imagine but the only one who stuck with me was karate. I’ve been to three different dojos. Which mean three different types of karate along with new circuilam and ideas of/for it. A black belt in karate to some people is just a rank or a belt but to me it shows all the laughter, tears, hard work, smiles, dedication and all around my experience doing karate. Getting your black belt is everyone’s own journey. Sometimes it can be long and difficult but yet rewarding and sometimes it’s not. Having/ getting a black belt isn’t only just something you wear around your waist but a state of mind. A black belt requires one to be very perseverance and work tirelessly. A lot of physical training and use of mental strength is required. After several years of commitment to martial arts is when these characteristics display themselves. At amerikick we believe things are earned and not given and at amerikick it has taught me to stay in pursuit of this goal.

Instructing is another way of learning. If you cannot teach the material you truly do not understand it yourself. This is required to perfect your material, as I learned from personal experience. I believe my instructor, Mr. Lupe, is an example of a great leader. He pushes me to my limit and beyond. He makes me a better person, better in the karate school, and in the community. Mr. Lupe is dependable, hardworking, and possesses many great character qualities. Displaying good character is essential for being a great leader and a great black belt. I am grateful and honored that I was given the chance to test for my black belt. I received the best training from Mr. Lupe and Mr. Vlad. These great leaders have taught me to stay strong and to work hard for my goals. If I receive the rank of black belt, one of my many goals will have been accomplished. My journey to becoming a black belt has taught me to display great character, build my leadership skills, reach my goals, and understand the meaning behind Amerikick. I look forward to continuing my Amerikick journey for many years to come.

Wearing a black belt does not mean you are invincible, it means that you never gave up, you worked past the pain, you overcame the disappointments, you did not cave into any doubts, and you faced your fears. Being any belt, especially a black belt requires leadership, patience and both mental and physical strength.

  • black belt To by Liam Kryzak

What black belt means to me… To gain physical conditioning and strength. To have confidence, a good attitude and perseverance. To be able to protect the people I love. To be modest and courteous.

My physical condition and strength were not strong when I first joined karate. It has gotten better. Weekly in class we do sit ups, push ups, jumping jacks, and leg lifts. Having good physical condition and being strong is good for your health and body. That is what all black belts should have and what I work towards at every class. When I started karate, I did not take tumbling. After I started tumbling, I became more flexible and learning new tricks was more fun.

To have confidence is to know that I can do well if I try hard. If I believe that I can do it and try hard and practice I can accomplish anything. If I have a positive attitude it is easier to be confident. Attitude helps me to persevere with everything I do. When I first saw someone do a back handspring, I was impressed. I took the tumbling class and Sensei Kim taught me. Learning a back handspring I started by doing back bends over a barrel and kicking over. When I got more confident, I used the trampoline and Sensei Kim helped spot me. I persevered through months of practice and finally was able to do it on a soft mat. Confidence, a good attitude and perseverance are qualities a black belt should have.

Karate is for defense. Being a black belt means I have learned to defend people I care for and myself. As a black belt candidate I have learned more than thirty self defenses. These defenses help me protect against attackers even if they try and choke me. I can defend my friends or brother if someone physically bullies them. This makes me feels happy because I know I can protect them and they won’t get hurt.

A black belt should be modest and not brag about their skills. Over the years I have made many friends in my karate classes. We always compliment each other on what we are doing, help one another and cheer each other on. We have all become stronger as a team by being modest and encouraging each other.

Black belts are courteous. When I am sparring I respect my partner and they respect me by bowing to each other and the judges before we start. I follow the rules, if someone gets injured we stop sparring to ensure that everyone is ok.  While in classes, I am courteous to my Sensei’s. I bow when I enter or leave the floor, call them by their title and never talk back to them. When I am not at karate, I am courteous as well. I hold doors for people, I help my friends with homework, help my mom when she asks.

Being a black means all of these qualities to me.
